Looking for a good movie to scope out in your downtime? Well, if you have Netflix, then check out The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.
It takes place in post-WWII Guernsey island, located just a ways from the shores of Northwestern France. An author named Juliet arrived there from London to learn more about the book club, which, as she learned from one of its members, developed into something of a refuge as the Germans occupied the island.
The first time you see this, it may feel in some ways like your everyday Hallmark movie. However, it benefits from a historical context, much better writing, and gorgeous cinematography.
My family and I enjoyed this last night. Do us a favor and check this out, too. You’ll like it.
